The Consorzio Tutela Vini di Valtellina,
the growers' association for the protection of Valtellina wines, was founded in 1976. It represents all wineries
and wine growers of the provinces of Sondrio and of Valposchiavo, closer to the Swiss border.
It is the only Italian association which has been granted two DOCG, the Controlled and Guaranteed
Denomination of Origin for the same region and the same vine, for Valtellina Superiore DOCG and Sforzato DOCG
produced from Nebbiolo.
The aims of the Consorzio Tutela Vini di Valtellina are the promotion of Valtellina wines as a symbol of the
territory and control of the traditions of wine culture in the province of Sondrio.
